what’s in the cards?
One of my good friends just celebrated a very special birthday. She honored it with a very on brand theme, what’s in the cards? She asked if I was interested in doing mini card readings during the night and suggested that I could also promote the new Soul Session offering. It was an easy yes, even simply as a birthday gift.
Of course, the mini readings unintentionally took on the full energy of Soul Sessions. I served two different tea blends, Lavender Lemon-aid & Ganny’s Spice. I took mental notes of what people naturally gravitated towards.
We set the ambiance with a low lit, intimate and cozy vibe. What was supposed to be 15-minute chats with each person easily turned into at least 30 minutes per person. We spent so much time chatting about what was in the cards that time just flew by.
So, what was actually in the cards?
Everyone had their own personal experiences that I won’t expound upon. But what I will talk about that I saw across every single person’s spread was the fact that it is time. A collective light switch has flipped on where the creatives are being called to the carpet. Out of the 6 people I sat with that night, every single one had an independent idea/business or creative venture they were ready to center in their lives. The traditional job wasn’t cutting it, and their heart was hearing whispers in a new direction. And yes, if you are too, you should absolutely listen to it. There is a collective experience where we are all navigating when will it be time to do this thing, time to quit our jobs, time for this next chapter?
Based on the cards, which I read for entertainment purposes only, even if quitting your job isn’t your next step, it is probably inevitable at some point. I saw a lot of 6 of swords (upside down & right side up). You were never meant to linger long. The first stage requires a bit of strategy for you. Know your weaknesses that cycle around during change and transition, or your struggle points I should say and create a safe space for them. If I know that I can’t handle the idea of not having the financial accommodations I’ve grown accustomed to, my exit plan may need some adjustments like a tiered approach. I may begin to gradually build the foundational pieces of my business, creative venture or idea. I may start collecting information from existing clients, create the design of my logo that then sparks something else, attend an experience where I learn something that supports what I’m working on. Make small steps daily. Create your own yellow brick road. And then follow it. Let each step connect you to your next one. Let each moment and stage be its own little world to dive into. Explore the corners and crevices. Throw out the idea of whether this can or can’t happen. One step. One thing.
For me, it was after about 5 years of knowing and searching for somewhere else I just knew I needed to be. The shift was necessary at that point. I had been somewhat laying the foundation that would carry me in the transition. I had to adjust to the unavoidable financial strain for myself. I’d gotten cozy with convenience and consistency. But I got so much more in return. It changed my relationship with money in a good way. I was a little freer. I found a community to work with that felt like family. They shared opportunities and resources with me. It was community in all the ways I’d imagined and hadn’t even thought of. I learned more about myself and what I wanted to build and I even gathered some skills to support the journey along the way. I was having some terrible headaches right before I quit my job. They mysteriously went away once I made the decision and followed through. I think it was the stress and anxiety of trying to make sense of something my mind couldn’t comprehend but my body was fully aware of. I was comfortable and I had plans here with this company that I wasn’t quite ready to abandon. But there was somewhere else I needed to be. I had a 3-month financial plan in place that would hold me over to pursue what I thought was community centered work. But it also was to reignite my creativity and prepare my entrepreneurial path. I began writing again, making new blends and products too. My dreams kept revealing new things. At the end of that 3 months is when I met the community of folks I mentioned above that felt like family. God winks and synchronicities, those were my signs. Allow the plans to be flexible. Make each step a milestone of celebration. A bunch of small things accumulating to the grand masterpiece. Its giving very much 7 of pentacles. It honestly gives creation of this world we live in. A bunch of little, tiny particles, ideas and connections that lead to a much bigger and magnificent experience. They led to you.
I thought it would be really cool to create a journal or a vision board specifically for this idea or project. Let it come to life through your thoughts and your presence. Watch it expand overtime. I’d offer some tea for the experience, but your priority right now is just to START. The answer may not be available yet on how but the one thing that needs to be remembered is why….Let that be your compass, your North Star.
For so many years, we refused to fully consent to the extraction of our souls. That is why we are here now. We didn’t abandon ourselves. It is time reinvite each part of you back in. Soul Sessions are for remembering her and what she wanted. Soul Sessions are safe havens to explore and affirm your own curiosities and synchronicities. Some things just need to be experienced.
Even if the idea feels trivial or simple, listen to it anyway. Build the yellow brick road anyway. Trust that there are people you haven’t met who will love you as you are and who will need what it is that you offer. Whatever is up next is worth being a part of. The world seems to be learning how to feel again, I hope you don’t leave yourself out.
